Who Am I is a series that started as a homework assignment from a photography class.

I saw a picture of the Dixie Chicks on the cover of EW (the one with words protesting the war) and I loved the visual, shocking nature of it.  I thought it would translate well into people and how they feel about themselves. I chose to use jeans because it is a common denominator for most people.  We all have a favorite pair, don’t we?  Most of us (or people we know) may suffer from different types of mental illness.  From depression, to body issues, anxiety or other diagnosis’ it deeply affects the way we interact with the world.  Removing the stigma and talking about those things is what will ultimately make us more comfortable in seeking the help we need and enable us to offer comfort and understanding to those that need it.

I encourage you to look at the images with an open mind and ask yourself when looking at them, who are you?
